As leaders in the Senate get ready to introduce climate and clean energy legislation, former Vice President Al Gore hosted a live strategy conference call on Monday, March 15 with nearly ten thousand Repower America members.
On the call, Gore emphasized that it it now more important than ever for the Senate to hear support from around the country for comprehensive solutions to the climate crisis. He urged those on the call to keep the pressure up and to participate in Repower America’s letter-writing campaign.

I’m From Italy, even my voice, very far and from a different country, is a stimulus for you citizen of America, to show the world, you are again the leader in this “human trend”…Save the world for a better life!!!
Go ahead! American!!
I am embarrassed to say I missed the original airing of this call, due to the time change. My apologies! I do think, there should be an emphasis on the crucial states to get those letters in. Being from CA, my senators are already on track. I hope you have a good following in some of the key states. One I can mention: Oklahoma!
I am sure you know why. (The senator’s name begins with an I).
Many thanks REPOWER, for getting us mobilized into a movement.
[...] Repower America: Listen to Al Gore’s Strategy Update from Monday Night [...]
I understand AL Gore has everything to lose because he has insider traded his ill gotten gains into the FRAUD of carbon trading, The IPCC fraud doesn’t fool anyone anymore. My vote is for zero point free energy, I can sell some stock to Al Gore if he’s interested!
Al is right about two crises but there is no climate crisis [the only crisis for Al is carbon trading]. But they sure are connected like he said.
Putting our people to work developing our oil production and building nuclear plants instead of sending trillions of dollars overseas will go a long way in helping the economic crisis.
As for ‘green jobs,’[equal net job loss] Spain and Denmark show the failure of that.
AGW only makes sense when we totally Disregard the reality of Earth’s Climate history. Amazing that our Union mandated school systems immediately began teaching AGW as the cause of every imagined Crisis.
No wonder there are so many sub-standard K12 SAT scores in the world. Politically controlled USA is near the bottom. The only students that will survive this politically agenda driven, ‘Mind Warp’, are those with the desire to do their Own Research. Apparently it will fall to the ‘home Schooled’ to bring sanity back to Science.
To Attack mining as polluting, invasive and ‘Carbon Intensive’, and then to show Wind Turbins (imported) on the Header of this article, is slightly (to say the least) naive. The components of the Turbins are mined from the earth.
Which components (’Rare Earth’ [magnets] for one) are the ‘greenies’ suggesting be exhorbitantly ‘Taxed’ and Restricted? Which energy source is involved in the Mining, Processing and Manufacturing of the components? The energy from a Wind Turbin is not enough to manufacture another Wind Turbin.. It can not even replace itself..
The exact same ‘Il’logic is used on ‘Solar Collectors’. The overall efficiency of both ‘green’ systems, is no more than 25% maximum, and only then, if placed in limited ideal conditions.
The government credits have to be ‘politically’ fair. So placing them (intensely subsidized) in un-favorable conditions is looked at as ‘Fairness’.. The ‘law of diminishing returns’ is flagrantly violated. WE all know what eventually happens to Law Breakers.. ‘Diminishing…Diminishing…Diminishing’……

Please tell me how I as an environmentalist can support this Senate bill as it stands now. Free pollution permits? 10 BILLION dollars over ten years to the coal industry for the nonexistant “clean coal?” Did not this organization put out ads stating the illusion of clean coal? Fifty four BILLION dollars to nuclear, which is a toxic dangerous energy source that threatens our environment, water, and national security? Allowing offshore oil drilling? Only a 17% reduction in carbon emissions by 2020?
I have been an environmentalist for over thirty years and have waited for adequate action on the climate crisis and the environment. And sorry, but this isn’t it. Where is the section on sustainable agriculture and naturalsoil carbon sequestration? Water and the effects of climate on its availability? The aggressive introduction of solar? How will solar ever have parity with coal if we keep giving money to them? Again, I am on the side of clean energy and bringing clean energy jobs, but supporting this bill as it stands now is simply not something I can in good conscience support and it really intrigues me how Repower America can support this.
And this bill doesn’t even begin to cover the emissions that will be created once the Alberta Clipper pipeline running from Canada to Wisconsin to pump in bitumen tarsands will emit. Where is the condemnation of this administration like the Bush administration for catering to the very corporate interests despoiling our environment? How much more do we have to give up?
And I see the denier brigade is out in full force here as well. How desperate.
Mr. Gore,
I’ll tell you what;you and all of your minnions find a very safe place to survive the oncomming bad news, and leave the rest of us ALONE!!
Donald O’Brien
Where do I get a degree in Climatetology like Al Gore? Wasn’t he a photgrapher in the army during Vietnam?
RE: Above comment.
Dear Blogengeezer – Solar photovoltaics are getting more efficient every day.
Kites are now being used to generate power in Hawaii.
There is more eco good news out there than could possibly fit in one website.
Coal needs to go and so does oil.
Here is a great link to “kite” power that may change your thinking – http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/saul_griffith_on_kites_as_the_future_of_renewable_energy.html
Pessimism is a luxury for good times. In crises, it is a self-inflicted mortal wound.
well – I guess censorship is alive and well with Al Gore’s “religious followers”….
not one – not two – ALL THREE of my previous posts were taken down…. hmmmmmm – guess they didn’t appreciate all the facts the are trying to deny:

[let's see how long this post stays on here...]
bottom line – Jan – you are right…
My senators and representative are in support of environmental issues. Who are the other ones around the country who need to be contacted?
NOW , EVERYBODY MUST VOTE OUT ALL PRESENT-STANDING SELFSSERVING NO-GOOD STUPID CONGRESSMEN THAT ARE IN POWER RIGHT NOW . THESE S.O.B.’S ARE RUINNING ALL OF OUR CONFINDENCE IN OUR PRESENT-DAY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT . THEY THINK THEY ARE ABOVE REPROCH . WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD RUN THEM ALL OUT ON AN RAIL , TAR AND FEATHER AND MAYBE A GOOD BRANDING ON THE FOREHEAD TO DENOTE THERE STATUS AMONG US AS BEING THIEVES .
Obama has his sheep and Gore has his. Greener earth..absolutely, we ALL want that for our children.
This IS NOT how to go about it…this simply lines Al Gores pockets and you sheeple fall hook line and sinker for it. He relying big time on YOU for fall for this..and laughing all the way to the bank. (and has for years)
Do yoor OWN research for a change, look up Al Gore, in depth…and see just how green HE really is.
You ask everyone to sign all of these petitions, but you NEVER let any of us see the actual wording of the petitions. Come on, let’s see some of that famous liberal honesty: when you ask us to sign petitions, show us the actual wording of the petitions. Or is it that the petitions don’t actually say what you are claiming they say?
this is a hoax! climate changer allright! just wait til the iranians or north korea set off the first of many nukes! we’ll be all set with the “GLOBAL COOLING ” that ensues. Strap in you idealogical morons. You are nothing more than cannon fodder for the imbecilic jackassez such as mr. self serving- al gore. wake up and smell the ozone! he uses more fossil fuel to run around like chicken little proiclaiming a far fetched version of his financial strategy to get OUR MONEY! wake up pinheads.
iam tired of hearing the republicans and tea party talk bad about our goverment, and its all because democrats are runiing this country go democrats, anyway i think we should hold our own tea party events only lets call them coffee partys and let us rally all americans that agree with this current administration (obama).i think republicans are trying to do all they can to block this adminis, from movin ahead.republicans are softed and iam willing to be a strong arm for the democrats,me and my brothers from the latin kings will become the enforcers of our coffee party.enjoy the rest of the day.and for those intrested in joining the coffee party please email me for your enrollment, those who cant please make a donation $5.oo or more.make donations to alex vargas 1320 commonwealth ave bx ny 10472.thanking you ahead of time and let us ellimanate this tea party once and for all.
you guys must be joking! by now haven’t you morons figgered it out? gore is a jackass just like all you other self serving jackassez there is no global warming! there is however, global cooling. right after iran sets off their first nuke! so strap in morons! you would be better advised to start stocking up on canned goods for the next nuclear winter, when NOTHING will grow! maybe gore has an answer for that too.
The cornerstone of “clean energy” seems to be industrial wind turbines. WHAT A CROCK! Here in Northern NY turbines are running at less than 20% of their rated capacity with over 1000 hrs. of zero output. They will not produce enough electricity to pay for themselves before they are worn out.Industrial wind is a huge shell game based on subsidies and tax credits.Wind produced power is currently more expensive than eiter large scale hydro or nuclear. Add property devaluation, adverse health effects to some, resticted land use and destruction of rural ambiance and you have a failed technology maent to benefit large corporations and rich investors.
Just to clarify my comments, just because I am against the Senate bill in its current state, I still support moving to a clean affordable energy future and I don’t think Al Gore is doing this to get rich. I honestly believe that is simply a cop out excuse used by people to not become involved in this. Al Gore has been trying to spread this message for over thirty years because it is REAL, so on that score I have no dispute and I respect and love the man very much for all he has done and continues to do to make people more aware of what scientists have been trying to get out for years regarding the effects of global warming.
This is why I am actually so upset regarding this current bill. So, as I type this now I am also beginning to handwrite my letters to my senators for mailing tomorrow on Mr. Gore’s birthday (happy birthday) ;-) to tell them the need we now have to move to a clean affordable renewable energy future, not only to prolong the tipping point in our climate balance we are now precariously close to but also for the general health of our citizens and environment. Coal ash spills, mercury poisoning, toxic water, polluted air, poisoned land… these are all effects of burning fossil fuels as well as the sicknesses they cause and the global warming they exacerbate and it is time we move on for the safety and health of our children and theirs. It is simply the logical moral thing to do.
So when you see me criticize the Senate on this bill it isn’t because I don’t agree with Mr. Gore on this. I simply wish this organization would in some way make it known that the parts of their bill currently that do not address CO2 emissions reductions adequately and that cater to the very industries polluting this planet are wrong. There is absolutely no reason why this bill shouldn’t be based on what scientists state needs to be done and be able to be passed. “Healthcare reform” if that’s what you want to call it was passed without one Republican vote. There is then no excuse regarding climate change any longer. If there is any time when doing this right was the best time, THIS IS IT. If this inadequate lackluster bill that is currently sitting in the Senate winds up being all we get even with the momentum they supposedly gathered after passing their insurance care bill, then I’m sorry, but I will then work to see them voted out. You can count on that.
“I see the denier brigade is out in full force here” said jan moore of the ‘blinder’ bridgade..
